Tracey Hill
 
Tracey is one of the sports younger generation trainers and lives at Thurstonfield with her parents Derrick & Carolyn Hill. They several hounds in their kennel and she does a great job running the Junior Club along with Carolyn and sister Donna.
 
How did you get into the sport of houndtrailing?
I was born into it!
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
24 years
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
Dakota, jack the lad, brad the lad, dixie chick, dixie moon 
 
Which is the best hound you have seen run and why do you think so?
Would have to be Westgate Kyza, he is a stunning dog and can run for fun!   
 
What is you Favourite Venue and Why?
My favourite place is Helton as my hounds always seem to run well there and it is fantastic open running!
 
Which are your most memorable Victories?
Well there is a few: one would have to be when we got the double up at the international in 2007 with Dixie Moon and Speculation. Also when Dakota won the final 20th century senior trail at Mill/Moor and winning the international in 1995. Getting the double up at snow hill centenary! and of course winning the ONW Championship and being runner up in the Senior Maidens Championships for the last two years with Brad the Lad! I could go on!!!! haha
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
Once again have to be Westgate Kyza as he is a fantastic hound and it would be nice to not just have maidens in my kennel!!!! haha
 
Who is your Favourite Hound Trailing Character past, present  and why?
There is alot of past characters who are a great loss in this sport! Good old Eric Little he was like a grandad to me, I worshiped the ground he walked on, him and myself use to take off with the dogs and go all over country and always have a winner! Also there is George Wall & Jimmy Glaister they were huge, lively character's and they were an inspiration to all in the hound trailing sport! Present would have to be Walt Logan he is a star and always makes me smile at the trails!.
 
 
Cathy Lister
 
Cathy is another of the sports young upcoming trainers and she lives at Aspatria. She was introduced to the sport by her parents Brian (Cheesy) and Joy Lister and she currently has three hounds in her kennel, Owtback, That Look and Thats Back.
 
How did you get into the sport of hound trailing?
 
I was born into it
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
 
About 19 years
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
 
Probably has to be Keegan when I had the dogs with my dad, but while I have had them by myself it has to be Owtback.
 
Which is the best hound you have seen run and why do you think so?
 
I think it has to be Westgate Kyza, he's a brilliant hound to watch he makes it all look so easy.
 
What is your favourite venue and why? 
 
I haven't really got a favourite but a good seeing fell venue I think
 
Which are your most memorable victories?
 
I have two the first one is when Amillion and Cole were puppy maidan champion and runner up in 2000 and when I won £50 off a bet with Neil Brown for when Owtback won her first old dog trail haha
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
 
I think it has to be Darling, I think shes a brilliant little bitch and I think she will improve loads more this season too.
 
Who is your favourite hound trailing character, past present and why?
 
There are loads of old characters and all for different reasons, theres Billy Bant, Bill Johnston, Jimmy Glaister and the list could go on they all have added to the great years I can remember and made them alot more enjoyable.

How did you get interested in the sport of hound trailing?
Born into hound trailing, my grandfather, William Roper was a founder member of B.H.T.A.
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
All my life, actually 55 years
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
Hitch Hiker - 1973 Puppy Champion
 
Which has been the best hound you have seen run and why?
There are a few Progress, Melrose, Summer Flight, September Boy, Trust, Jigsaw
 
What isyour favourite venue and why?
Langholm Common Riding, still trying to win it!
 
Which are your most memorable victories?
Running Springholm, had a huge lead looked to see if they were coming and just as they got to him he popped over the line, broke his foot at four years old 60 pts lead in championship hes now 15 years old.
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
Trust (she like a good Martini), she will run anywhere, anytime, any place. Although I'm not sure I could put up with her barking on the way to the trails!
 
Who is your favourite hound trailing character past or present?
Richie Foster could see through mountains without binoculars!
 
BRIAN SHAW - BHTA
 
How did you get interested in the sport of hound trailing?
Meeting with PALS who had trail hounds when coming to Carlisle, G Wall etc.
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?

Melrose could win at any venue, multiple winner of all blue ribbon trails

Trust won almost everything - very consistent

STANLEY JACKSON
 
Stanley is a hill farmer at Rosthwaite in the Borrowdale valley and along with wife Carole and close friends Spike and Griff they currently have six hounds in their kennel, Centenary, Crystall, Cathy, Courtesy, Colleen and Connie.
 
How did you get interested in the sport of hound trailing?
Helping my uncle, Victor Brownlee walk and run trails for Shannon, my cousins 'Bilgy' and 'Boy' Jacksons dog.
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
Since 1969
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
Crafty was my favourite. Cristy had a heart like a lion though.
 
Which has been the best hound you have seen run and why?
Hartsop Magic could maketop class opposition look ordinary in a great era for hound trailing.
 
What isyour favourite venue and why?
Cold Fell Gate. Fastest dogs always win or ticket on this brilliant course.
 
Which are your most memorable victories?
1999 Cock Howe Festival. We had four winners and a second.
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
Darling.  I was really impressed with her runs last back end. Especially at Gatesgarth, Buttermere, a real good all rounder.

Ike Dixon and Eric 'Sticks' Walker
 
 
PATRICK & JANE LAIDLER
 
Patrick & Jane live at Windermere and currently have four hounds in their kennel. Sally Watts, Mabel, Rose and Jackie.
 
How did you get interested in the sport of hound trailing?
Our familys, particularly our fathers were involved in the sport and it stemmed from there.
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
All of our lives.
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
Sugar Moss, Meadow Lark, Jackpot, Mabel, Silver Birch, Ned Pepper
 
Which is the best hound you have seen run and why do you think so?
Shannon. He had speed and driving ability. He used to win by a distance on a regular basis.
 
What is your favourite venue and why?
Cold Fell Gate. Open fast running and you can see a lot of the trail. Helton also fits this bill.
 
Which are your most memorable victories?
Winning the Bitch Produce at Shap with Sugar Moss and Silver Birch beating Hartsop Magic in the old dogs at Ambleside Sports.
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
Westgate Ruby. 100% trier, always consistent.
 
Who is your favourite hound trailing character, past or present and why?
Jim Batty. All the tales he tells, a big personality.
 
 
MARTIN BURROW
 
Martin lives at Kentmere with Lynn and they currently have four hounds, Dempsey, Davina, Della and Desire which they own in partnership with close friend Donald Hodgson who farms at Grasmere and Ronnie Bell.
 
How did you get interested in the sport of hound trailing?
I built some hound kennels for Ian Porter and while working there went to the trails with him one day. I have been interested ever since.
 
How long have you been involved in the sport?
About thirty years. I had my first hound in 1985, he was called Motown.
 
Which have been the best hounds you have trained?
Desire is undoubtably the best but Motown was a good hound, I wish we had him now, he would've won a lot more trails.
 
Which is the best hound you have seen run and why do you think so?
Hartsop Magic. If she got a lead and got wrong she would soon get back to the front and pull away again.
 
What is your favourite venue and why?
I used to love Martindale. It was a nice little valley and was a good seeing trail. Newlands is my favourite venue of today. The locals all turn out and it is always a friendly meeting with a good atmosphere.
 
Which are your most memorable victories?
Winning the Bitch Produce with Desire and also winning open restricted on May Day in 2007 with Dempsey, that was our first big trail win.
 
Which current day hound would you like to have in your kennel and why?
Westgate Ruby - she must throw some good pups!
 
Who is yourfavourite hound trailing character, past or present and why?
